SYNOPSIS

Although the two protagonists of 'Strangers and Acquaintances' were born in the 19th century, Mihály Munkácsy (Hungarian painter) and Mór Jókai's discourse is about the problems of the 21st-century person. The author of the play, Tibor Zalán, intends to place the following question - whose validity or exclusivity is difficult to explain - to the focus of their conversation: who is the greater and who makes a more important contribution to his nation: the artist living and creating as a global citizen who elevates the glory of his country and increases its recognition internationally, or the artist who also undertakes his nation with his presence, who lives with the people of his country, representing them daily.

The play is approximately 80 minutes long.

The performance is directed by Tamás T. Herczeg, with Csaba Gerner portraying Munkácsy, Attila Czitor as Jókai. The music for the play was composed by Bálint Varga.

The production is realized with the support of the Hungarian Academy of Arts.
