Meet the Artist
„My works are abstract imprints of thoughts, moods, memories or concerns.”
Márta Edőcs is a world-renowned Hungarian artist and designer who is living and working in Sopron, Hungary. She invented two labor-intensive and exceptional glass crafting techniques: One of her specialty domains is working with silver clay and applying traditional silversmithing, frequently in combination with glass for her jewelry pieces. Her other area of expertise called the CELLelement technique that she invokes while crafting her original decor objects. As a child, Marta cherished her dream to become a fashion designer but the glass exhibition that she visited in Germany changed the young adult’s life once and for all. From this moment on, she started to immerse herself into the marvelous world of glass working in Hungary. She commenced designing and crafting the necessary glass elements for her hand-crafted pieces shortly and dove deeper into this particular technique participating in specialized courses in abroad. Thanks to her unique techniques and work, Marta has become one of the most renowned and highly respected Hungarian Glass Artist in the world who is also recognized in the studio of the world’s most significant glass museum - the Corning Museum of Glass (New York State) -, where she regularly holds courses and teaches her techniques. Occasionally, she also accepts students in Sopron, Budapest as well as in Vienna (Austria).
