Kovats300 Book Launch in New York

Organized by the Liszt Institute New York and the Michael Kováts Friendship Society a special book launch will take place focusing on Michael Fabriczy Kováts the “father of the US cavalry”, in celebration of the 300th anniversaty of his birth. The event will take place at the Consulate General of Hungary in New York on October 30, 2024.

Colonel Kováts played a vital role in organizing and leading the American cavalry units in the southern theater of war, where the Americans were weakest. His British opponent even remarked that Kováts’ units were “the best cavalry the rebels ever had”. Kováts eventually gave his life for the cause of liberty, he died at the battle of Charleston, South Carolina on May 11, 1779. Kovats’ legacy is an inspiring example of heroism, perseverance, and commitment to liberty.

In the framework of the event dr. Zoltán Pintér historian's volume titled Fabriczy Kováts Mihály will be presented. The book launch will be attended by the author, dr. Zoltán Pintér, and the deputy director of the Michael Kováts Friendship Society, dr. László Örlős.
