On the occasion of Gábor Csupó's 70th birthday, the Hungarian Academy of Arts Research Institute of Art Theory and Methodology and FilmHungary will present his biography Gábor Csupó - From the Pannónia Studio to the Hollywood Star on November 9.

The publication is part of the FilmHungary Hungarians in Hollywood series, which is authored by the Bánffy Miklós Award-winner and Hungarian Film Prize winner Tamás Kollarik and Hungarian Cinema Prize winner Sándor Takó. The series is the result of more than three years of research and creative work. This fantastic work on the life and career of Gábor Csupó is certainly one of the most unique volumes of the last decade, as it does not only focus on the history of cinema with monographic depth but also displays a complete and captivating life story. The authors spent years working on the volume, interviewing dozens of American and Hungarian experts, drawing on their previous research and placing Csupó's life's work in a film-historical context. In telling the story, the authors rely heavily on unpublished photographic, film and fine art source materials from the private collections of Gábor Csupó and the interviewees in the book.

The richly illustrated, album-like structure of the book evokes the vision-based take on the world that defined the Hungarian artist's entire oeuvre. In addition to the pictures, the personal reminiscences are of paramount importance, linked by the authors' writings and dissertations on cultural and film history.
