Organzed by the Liszt Institute New York in the framework of its popular Hungarian Emerging Artists Concert Series a captivating classical music concert will take place in New York on July 15 at 6:30PM at the Consulate General of Hungary featuring extraordinary Hungarian guitarist Bence Szigeti.
Join us and immerse yourselve in the most iconic melodies of the classical guitar, where Mediterranean sunsets, sultry Andalusian nights, and the fire of flamenco come alive! Timeless masterpieces such as Asturias (Leyenda), Recuerdos de la Alhambra, and the Uruguayan La Catedral will resonate as we journey through the birthplace of the guitar—where every note tells a story.
Bence Szigeti will evoke the magic of Granada through the memories of Francisco Tárrega. We’ll uncover Albeniz’s secret: how did a piano piece become one of the world’s most famous guitar compositions? We’ll also take a look at France to see how Napoleon once marched—and what Napoléon Coste had to say about it. In Italy, we’ll pay homage to Paganini, whose virtuosity was legendary.
And how can a composer build entire worlds around a single walking bass line? Johann Sebastian Bach—master of so many things—excelled at this too. Through the classical guitar, we’ll get an insight into this very mystery.
We invite you for a journey together through the most enchanting landscapes of Spain—and discover the legends of the classical guitar!
The concert is free of charge but registration is mandatory.
