Counter/culture Closing Nights

Hungarian Cultural Center proudly presents the official closing events of its Counter/culture program series, a two-night festival featuring the FODDERBASIS TANDEM and the multimedia performance A ROLL OF THE DICE. Focusing on artistic resistance during the era of State Socialism in Hungary, the thematically linked events are all related to the exhibition With the Eyes of Others: Hungarian Artists of the Sixties and Seventies on show at Elizabeth Dee Gallery between May 2 and August 11. As an interpretation of the inherent dilemma of the era, both events are reflecting on either staying in a country which blocked free creative work or fleeing beyond the Iron Curtain to create art without the burden of censorship while loosing ties.
