Organized by the Liszt Institute New York one of Hungary’s defining pop musicians, Barnabás Pély, is going on tour in the United States giving concerts in New Brunswick, NJ on 3 June, 2023, Fairfield, CT on 4 June, and Washington DC on 7 June. 2023 celebrating the National Unity Day. For more than a decade Pély has been one of the most diverse and influential musicians in the Hungarian popular music scene.

As a singer-songwriter, he is characterised by his openness and energy, combining in his performances and works the basic stylistic features of rock, soul, funk and pop. In addition to building his own solo career, he was also the lead singer/guitarist of the band United, with whom he has recorded numerous hits that became wildly popular in Hungary. In 2000, the band's album First... was awarded the Golden Giraffe Prize in the category "Record of the Year", and No Autumn No Winter was awarded the Líra Jakab Prize.

In 2010, the band was awarded the Príma Primissima prize for 10 years of musical work. As a producer, composer and arranger, he coordinated the music for Vera Tóth's 2nd (Valami Más) and 3rd (Tóth Vera) albums. He was a judge on the singing talent show Megasztár on Tv2 from 2003 to 2006 and in 2010 he was an invited teacher and professional consultant on the singing talent show Megasztár on Tv2.

In 2011, he formed B the First, whose first album featured his English-language rock-funk-blues songs. His singing style, his songs and his "slogans" deservedly make him one of the most indispensable figures of his generation.

About the artist

Barnabás Pély completed his secondary school studies between 1990-1993 at the Pelbárt Ferences Gymnasium in Temesvári, Esztergom, and graduated from the Szent László Gymnasium in Budapest in 1994. He graduated from the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in 2000 (from 1996). In 1998 he won the TV2 talent show "Kifutó". Since 1999, he has been singing and playing guitar in the band United. In 2000, he came 2nd in the Hungarian Radio Jazz Singing Competition. Since 2003, he has been a member of the jury of the Megasztár talent contest. Pély was also a teacher at the Art Department of the Kodolányi János College until 2017 and leader of the Kodolányi Open Stage Club.
