Honoring the Day of Hungarian Culture, the University of Theater and Film Arts in Budapest together with the Liszt Institute New York held a special short film screening featuring the works of two the best up-and-coming graduate students of the University, Bianka Szelestey and Sébastien Varga on January 22, 2024 at the Consulate General of Hungary.
Dr. Palotai Csenge, the director of the Liszt Institute New York opened the event with her remarks that was followed by an exciting promo video introducing the University of Theater and Film Arts in Budapest. After that József Pacskovszki, Deputy Director of the Zsigmond Vilmos Institute of Cinematic Arts talked about the structure and educational goals of the University.
The audience first had the chance to experience Sébastien Varga's work titled "Hospice", delving into the life and mental state of a broken man, desperately trying to open up and get in contact with his son. Bianka Szelestey's film "Pragma" followed this first movie which masterfully dissected the disfunctional relationship and tension between mother and daughter.
Finally, the event closed with an exciting panel discussion and Q&A led by József Pacskovszki.
