The Continental Magazine is now available in select bookstores

The Petőfi Cultural Agency has launched a new literary journal entitled The Continental Literary Magazine. The primary aim of the quarterly is to bring Hungarian and, more broadly, Central European emerging literature to the United States. The first issue is now available at 611 Barnes & Noble and Books-A-Million stores in 50 states of the United States.

Hungarian authors in the opening issue include Eszter Babarczy, Róbert Hász, János Háy, László Szilasi, Gábor T. Szántó, Zsuzsa Takács, Anna Terék, Kinga Tóth, and Krisztina Tóth. American authors of the magazine include names such as the author of the bestselling collection of essays Bad Feminist, Roxane Gay; Judith Newman, a writer-journalist whose journalism has appeared in most prestigious American newspapers (The New York Times, Vanity Fair, Harper’s, The Wall Street Journal, Allure and Vogue) and Lance Henson, a Cheyenne Indian poet. The magazine also includes an interview with Noam Chomsky.

In conjunction with the US launch of the inaugural edition, several readings and lectures will take place in major cities on the East Coast. Stay tuned for details of events coming soon and grab a copy at the nearest store!
