TONY - literary evening with Lili Horváth

The TONY Literary Evening commemorates the heroes and martyrs of the 1848-49 Revolution and War of Independence, including an exemplary couple, Antónia and Lajos. The performance will recall the life of the historical female figure, Countess Antónia Batthyány, commonly known as Tony.

The evening commemorates a modern queen who is a symbol of FORGIVENESS. Her life story, this timeless female destiny calls our attention to never forget: everything that happened to her can happen to any of us at any time! However, the one-person production is by no means lonely, gloomy, and depressive in tone – it rather gives strength, faith and encouragement to the viewer by presenting the example of an infinitely strong and moral, persistent and intelligent woman.

In this independent literary evening, live acting is complemented by musical interludes and sound recordings. The reconstructed sound recordings (texts by Captain Lautzendorf and Lieutenant-Colonel Kempten, Colonel Trattner, Lieutenant-Colonel Altmann and Major Reichardt, and Mrs Lajos Batthyány) enrich the visual experience and the virtual journey, not only making the story authentic but also making the events more real for the audience.
The performance is based on the book and audio book "The Memory of Lajos Batthyány - Antónia Zichy's Memories of the Imprisonment and Death of her husband", published in 2008 by JEL Publishing House.

The performance features an excellent, strong actress in the person of Lili Horváth, who transforms into the role in such a way that her fate becomes one with Tony's, and then emerges from it after the last scene, shining as an actress again. A great and brave woman - in every way - from the 1800s speaks to the women of the 2000s with the help of the magical world of the theater. In this profoundly feminine story, a bridge is built between ancient times and our present world, while the show is at least as much about the journey of an outstanding man as it is about the tragedies of many men.
