The Embassy of Hungary and the Hungarian Cultural Centre is proud to showcase this exhibition of Botond Dávid, entitled „Transylvania: A Beautiful Woman”, which presents recently compiled works of Hungarian traditional folk costumes from Transylvania. The motto of this selection has been inspired by famous Hungarian writer, László Németh, who once said: "Transylvania is like a beautiful woman".
Botond Dávid has innovated the classical documentary ethnographic photography by his fashion style photos. By portraying young girls and women, he emphasizes that traditional folk costumes are not a museal mementos of past generations, but attractive, stylish garments in the 21st century. His approach to co-opt fashion and tradition is an interpretation, which embraces past, present, and future as well. The photos are an expression of fashion and tradition at the same time, while it is also a manifestation of national unity across borders.
