The popular Electronica event returns to Rich Mix for its fourth year, presenting carefully selected artists from Central Europe to demanding London audiences. This year’s edition will introduce Czech Republic’s favourite Zabelov Group, who promises to kick-start the evening with their out-of-this-world blend of electronics and jazz embellishments, accompanied by light design by leading VJ Linda Arbanová. Hungarian singer and songwriter Дeva, winner of the Music Moves Europe Award 2022, will then take over with her atmospheric smooth sounds mixing traditional Hungarian folk music and her divine voice with electronic tunes. Finally, the night will be rounded off by a brand new electro-acoustic duo Late Arrivals (Poland/UK) consisting of Blanka Barbara and Ignatius Sokal. After years in the Polish and UK contemporary scene as soloist artists, the married couple will draw from their substantial experiences as soloists for their duo debut featuring a combination of cinematic piano and avante-garde electronics.

  • ‚Unexpected, intrinsic music. Blending together sparse electronics with jazz flourishes, this duo manage to be both complex and effortless all at once.‘ DYI Magazine on Zabelov Group
  • ‚Rising talent Дeva’s debut album is eerie, haunting and utterly spell-binding.‘ What A Tune
  • ‚One of the great successes is its music, much of it played live by composer and virtuoso Ignatius Sokal.‘ What’s On Stage about Belarus Free Theatre’s Red Forest play
  • ‚Blanka Barbara continues to impress with a swathe of original and remix production material.‘ James Warren, Particles

ABOUT PARTICIPATING PERFORMERS:

ZABELOV GROUP (Czech Republic)
Active on the Czech music scene since 2012, the group is a musical dialogue between Roman Zabelov, an accordionist from Belarus, and Jan Šikl, Czech drummer and multi-instrumentalist. Their original acoustic puritanism gradually transformed into complex cinematic music accompanied by samples and acoustic instruments enhanced by electronics. Zabelov Group’s musical endeavour is permeated by their effort to maintain live contact with the instrument while providing the entire spectrum of club sounds. The duo’s latest work called “Madhouse Session EP” was released in 2020 by Minority Records. For their Richmix set, Zabelov Group will be accompanied by leading VJ Linda Arbanová.

ДEVA (Hungary)
A fully DIY solo project by the 21-year-old Budapest-based musician, Dorina Takács. She writes and produces her own tracks, and also sings and designs her artworks. Дeva's music features are atmospheric smooth sounds, pulsating bass and polyphonic mantras inspired by magical Hungarian folk songs. She performed at the Eurosonic Festival this year and her live show was broadcast by ARTE channel. She won the Music Moves Europe Award 2022 as well as the best female singer prize awared by Radio Petőfi. Her highly anticipated debut album 'Csillag' was released earlier this year by Move Gently Records. This time she will share the stage her band mates and the Budapest-based visual artist, Szanima.

LATER ARRIVALS (Poland/United Kingdom)
The duo consisting of pianist/composer Ignatius Sokal and producer/performer Blanka Barbara (aka Barbara Stahl) bring their vast experience of live performance on acoustic and electronic instruments merged with substantial knowledge of music production and large-scale composition to create a ubiquitous musical experience entitled ‘United in Freedom’ – a timeless audiovisual journey focusing the storytelling narrative on freedom in Eastern Europe. The duo plan to release their debut EP Failures of Kindness in November 2022 to coincide with their first live performance at Rich Mix. So far, they have shared a sneak
peek into one of the singles from their upcoming EP – Unhinged Reality – a track full of shamelessly invigorating percussion, gloriously strange, groovy yet subtle in its bravely chosen sounds.
