This November, Beyond Kino invites you to experience Marcell Jankovics’s animation classic Son of the White Mare — a visually stunning retelling of Hungarian creation myths and folktales. Created at the legendary Pannónia Film Studio, the film fuses folklore, surreal psychedelia, and timeless allegory into an 80-minute journey through cosmic birth, destruction, and rebirth.
Jankovics’s masterpiece remains one of the most daring works in animation history — a film that feels as modern and radical today as it did in 1981.
After the screening, we’ll open the floor for an informal group discussion — a chance to share impressions and reflections inspired by this hypnotic visual masterpiece.
