Following Dóra Maurer's grandiose one-and-a-half-year-long exhibition at the Tate Modern, her students introduce their uniquely selected artworks at the David Kovats Pop-up Gallery in Covent Garden.
The current 'Disciples of Dóra Maurer' exhibition is a worthy sequel to the one at Tate Modern for multiple reasons. The collection endorsed by Dóra Maurer herself represents Maurer’s uniquely democratic and open teaching style which encourages her pupils to experiment, to blaze new trails, and introduces them to the up-to-date leading global movements.
Her international connections and knowledge is reflected in the artworks of this exhibition which aims to present the richness of Hungarian art by showcasing artists who follow various movements, create in various styles and use a variety of mediums, such as painting, photography, sculpture, drawing and video. Among the artworks, we can find engraved wood panels, lenticular prints, and pictures made by photomontage technique.
The participating artists include Mária Chilf, Márton Cserny, Attila Csörgő, Tamás Jovánovics, Barbara Nagy, Zoltán Szegedy-Maszák, András Wolsky and András Zalavári.
