In 2023, after 10 years of hiatus, Budapest, the capital of Hungary hosted a high-standard professional ballet competition, the Budapest Ballet Grand Prix (BBGP). The outstanding event, held in November, was initiated and organised by the Hungarian Dance University the country’s primary institution of dance art education.
BBGP aims to become the most renowned and respected international ballet competition in Central Europe. The competition offers young dancers an opportunity to compete and gain exposure in the international dance scene, provides scholarships and career opportunities for the most outstanding dancers and can convey the values and achievements of Hungarian culture, dance and dance education to the world.
CATEGORIES
BBGP offers young dancers to compete and gain exposure in the international dance scene.
Competitors from professional and private schools and ensembles are invited to compete in the following age groups (at the time of the competition):
- solo junior: 14-16,99 years
- solo senior: 17-19,99 years
- pas de deux: 17-22,99 years
PROVISIONARY PROGRAM
November 18: Registration, Meet the Jury
November 19-20: Semi-final Rounds
November 21: Professional symposium, Final Round
November 22: Gala Performance
REGISTRATION AND USEFUL INFO
Registration will be open from February to September 2024.
BBGP has a video pre-selection round. A maximum of 80 contestants will be selected to the live rounds.
Please note that International Summer Intensive Ballet Course Budapest 2024 organised by HDU has a pre-selection for the BBGP2024.
