Näyttelyssä tutustutaan valokuvataiteilija Ábel Szalontain Badacsony-kuva- ja videosarjaan sekä keramiikkataiteilija Dorottya Kalocsain Hidden-astiastoon. Taiteilijoiden työtä yhdistävät vesi, kestävä kehitys ja näihin liittyvä ihmisen rooli.

Osana avajaistilaisuutta järjestetään kiehtova englanninkielinen paneelikeskustelu, jossa Ábel Szalontai ja ympäristöpsykologi Krisztina Somogyi jakavat ajatuksiaan vesiekosysteemien merkityksestä yhteiskunnassa ja taiteessa. Keskustelun moderaattorina toimii Taru Elfving (CAA Contemporary Art Archipelago, tutkija, Kestävän meritieteen keskus SOS, Åbo Akademi).
(Tilaisuudessa otetaan valokuvia, joita saatetaan käyttää Liszt-instituutin viestinnässä.)
"Valokuva- ja videokokoelma Badacsony perustuu havainnoinnin, ymmärtämisen ja konstruktion pilareihin. Tavoitteena on tutkimuksiin nojaten näyttää visuaalisen ja äänimaailman avulla jotain uutta Balaton-järven kulttuurimaisemasta, jota olen havainnoinut ja valokuvannut jo vuosikymmenten ajan. Täten nykytaiteen työkaluja käyttäen toivon pystyväni tarjoamaan kiinteiden stereotypioiden sijaan herkemmän ja syvällisemmän kuvan Balatonista. ... Luova prosessi alkoi vuonna 2015 ja jatkuu yhä ikuistaen maiseman ajattomuutta tavoitteenaan tallentaa näkymän pysyvät, muttei koskaan samana toistumattomat versiot."

"Hidden-niminen työni toteutettiin Unkarin Haagin suurlähetystölle. Kyseessä oli todellisiin tarpeisiin perustuva suunnittelutehtävä, jossa keskipisteessä oli ruoka ja sen esillepano. ... Astiaston muotokieli mukailee erilaisia vesipintoja ja aaltoliikettä, ja viittaa lasitteen piilottamiin erilaisiin mineraali- ja terveysvesiin. Lasituskokeita varten keräsin 19:ää erilaista mineraali- ja terveysvettä eri puolilta maata. Astiaston nimeksi tuli Hidden, ’piilotettu’. Sana heijastaa lasitteessa piileviä lähdevesiä. Nimi herättää kysymyksiä ja keskustelua, lisäksi nykyisiin käsinmaalattuihin astioihin verrattuna koristelu ja kuviointi katoavat/jäävät piiloon muuntuen muotojen leikiksi."

The exhibition features the photography and video series Badacsony by Ábel Szalontai and the tableware design called Hidden by ceramic artist Dorottya Kalocsai. The artists' works are united by themes of water, sustainability, and the human role associated with these elements.

As part of the opening event, there will be a fascinating English-language panel discussion with Ábel Szalontai and environmental psychologist Krisztina Somogyi sharing their thoughts on the significance of water ecosystems in society and art. The discussion will be moderated by Taru Elfving (Director, CAA Contemporary Art Archipelago, Researcher, Centre for Sustainable Ocean Science (SOS, Åbo Akademi University Finland).
(Photos will be taken during the event, which may be later used in the communication of the Liszt Institute.)
"The Balaton / Badacsony / Tone photo and video series are based on the three pillars of observation, understanding, and construction. The aim is to show something new about the cultural landscape that I have been observing and photographing for decades through visual and audio representation, and thus to offer a more sensual and deeply understood image of Balaton for interpretation by using the tools of contemporary art instead of fixed stereotypes. ... The creative process began in 2015 and has been ongoing since, capturing the timelessness of the landscape, aiming to store a permanent yet never repetitive version of the landscape."

"My project Hidden was a ceramic design focused on tableware and gastronomy in diplomacy, developed to meet the real needs of the Hungarian Embassy in The Hague. ... The design of the porcelain pieces, with its evocation of various water surfaces and undulations, alludes to the diverse mineral and medicinal waters hidden within the glaze. For the glaze experiments, I collected 19 different mineral and medicinal waters from various locations across the country. The porcelain tableware is called Hidden. The title reflects the presence of mineral and medicinal waters used as an ingredient in the glaze. It is intended to provoke curiosity and initiate conversation. Unlike the hand-painted plates currently in use, the decoration and patterning are subtle, remaining hidden and transformed into a formal, playful design."
