In addition to our southern neighbours (congratulations for the best animation for "Flow"!), the epic drama "Brutalist", a collaboration between the US, the UK and Hungary, was also a winner. The film won a total of three awards: best drama, best director (Brady Corbet) and best actor (Adrien Brody). Let's rejoice with the Hungarians! All the more so because the film is closely linked to Hungary:
- Part of the film was shot in Hungary, at the Korda studio in the Etyek mountains
- A total of ten Hungarian actors are starring in the film
- Sylvia Plachy, the mother of lead actor Adrien Brody and photojournalist, was born in Budapest and has Hungarian roots on her father's side
- The film's fictional plot is partly inspired by the work of Hungarian architects Marcell Breuer and László Moholy-Nagy
- The film stars László Tóth, a Jewish survivor of the Holocaust who emigrates from Budapest to the United States after the Second World War.
Estonian audiences were already able to see the film during PÖFF, when it was screened in the Critics' Choice category at Screen International.
