Pantha Rhei

The dynamic and ever-changing nature of the world was first proclaimed by the Greek philosopher Herakleitos, with the statement of 'Pantha Rei', which means 'everything is going on', ie 'all things flow'.

The events of life are a series of apparent repetitions, which are actually manifested in the ever-changing aspects of continuous "ascension and return". The duet focuses on the conscious and subconscious aspects of the regularities and cycles behind everyday life. They are Adam and Eve, manifestations of opposites, yang and yin, light and darkness, life and death, that is, two sides of the coin. One cannot exist without the other. They are just as identical as they are in a world based on analogies. They represent the relativity of the opposites, and the dualistic view of the world that is a fundamental characteristic of human consciousness.

Their movement is characterized by circular systems that can be formed in and around the body. This movement-language is the basis of our thoughts and physics, as well as the attitude towards devices. The motion displaced in space creates spiral shapes that symbolize a change during repetitions. This change process is adapted to the body and the presence of four types of motion quality (earth, water, fire, air).

Dorottya Podmaniczky

Dorottya Podmaniczky graduated from the Eötvös Loránd University Faculty of Humanities with a bachelor's degree and then from the Budapest Contemporary Dance Academy with a master's degree. She began her professional studies at the Budapest Dance Theater, followed by an internship year at the Central European Dance Theater. She is constantly training herself in domestic and foreign courses. She has worked with Rita Góbi, Tímea Maday, József Hámor, Attila Kun, Ádám Zambryczki, Marcell Miklós, Carlos Rodero, Dorottya Ujszászi and the Artus Company. As a dancer, aerial acrobat and fire juggler, she regularly works with the Freak Fusion and the Firebirds Company. As a dance teacher, she gained experience at the Goli Art Studio and the Inspiral Circus Center. She is currently a lecturer at the University of Theater and Film Arts Budapest. Dorottya’s strength is improvisation starting from circular systems inside and outside the body, in which fluidity and speed often appear. She works on her specific styles in which contemporary dance is enriched with a new kind of circular dynamic systems, and the genre of aerial dance is paired with a contemporary dance approach. Her tool is the aerial hoop she has been working on since 2015. She is a co-founder of the Psycle Of Movement Imagination contemporary dance collective and the One Thousand Faces contemporary aerial dance collective.

David Miko

David Miko is a key figure in Hungarian contemporary dance, having worked with renowned choreographers such as Éva Duda, Máté Mészáros, Kata Juhász, Gábor Goda and Ferenc Fehér since 2009. He started his career as a choreographer in the company of the SEAD (Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance), then continued in the evenings of the Eva Duda Dance Company in Daradar, and then created more serious performances with Dorottya Podmaniczky under the name Psycle of Movement Imagination. As a solo artist, he recently appeared at the Central European Dance Theater’s Forum of Young Choreographers with his piece Trans, which was a great success. In his works, the body is the carrier of different sensations, during which he is able to create new and new qualities of movement by undressing the personality of the performer. He draws his inspiration from a unified approach to body and mind, thanks to his regular practice of Kung-Fu over several years. He has been an instructor at the Kung-Fu Academy since 2020. As a teacher, he has been holding regular professional dance courses at home and abroad since 2009. He is currently a lecturer at the University of Theater and Film Arts Budapest.
