Kata Bereczki: Headless, 2020, acrylic on canvas, 50x50 cm
After several venues in Estonia, Kata Bereczki’s exhibition entitled Life Path can now be seen in the Riisipere Library.
The exhibition showcasing Kata Bereczki's works has reached its third venue in Estonia. The compositions will be on display at the Riisipere Library from the beginning of May until the end of June. The exhibition was first shown at the Liszt Institute Tallinn from 25 November 2021, before moving to the Kuressaare Cultural Centre on the island of Saaremaa and the library in Viimsi near Tallinn. The next stop in Estonia will be the Cultural Centre in Paide from August to September 2022. The exhibition series will end in November at the Viljand Library.
In her art, Bereczki acts as an outside observer, makes records, creates emphases and leaves free space for the viewer's associations. The facelessness of her characters expresses generality, her reduced figures are situated in a space that is not closely defined. The narrative of the images, which evokes Hungary of the ’70s and ’80s, is provided by easily recognisable and memorable elements that may be familiar to Estonian audiences.
