V4 countries and Thailand meet to discuss sustainable development goals

On 7 April 2022, the Hungarian V4 Presidency held a workshop in Bangkok presenting best practices from the V4 countries on sustainability.

The event, entitled "Best Practices from the V4 countries for a More Sustainable Future", was opened by Dr Sándor Sipos, Ambassador of Hungary, and Somrudee Poopornanake, Deputy Director General of the Department of European Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thailand. Presentations given by representatives of the V4 countries covered topics such as the circular economy, recycling, decarbonisation of cities and climate neutrality.

 

The programme was attended by Slovak Ambassador Jaroslav Auxt, Deputy Director General of the Polish Ministry of Environment Szymon Tumielewicz and former Czech Environment Minister Milos Kuzvart. Hungary was represented by Péter Kovács, Head of the Watershed Management Department of the Ministry of Interior, who gave a presentation on sustainable water management solutions in Hungary.

 

The event was concluded with the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Hungarian National University of Public Service (NPS) and the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) University of Thailand, under which the two institutions will start developing, among other things, dual master's and doctoral programmes in water science.
