The Hungarian-Serbian Cultural Season was officially launched at the Serbian Ecclesiastical Museum in Szentendre on 22 September 2025, organized by Hungary’s Ministry of Culture and Innovation.
During the opening ceremony, welcome addresses were delivered by Balázs Hankó, Minister of Culture and Innovation of Hungary; Nikola Selaković, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Serbia; Eszter Vitályos, State Secretary and Spokesperson of the Government of Hungary; and His Eminence Lukijan, Archbishop and Metropolitan of Buda. In his speech, Metropolitan Lukijan emphasized the significance of holding such a major cultural event in the Serbian Ecclesiastical Museum in Szentendre – a place that preserves the invaluable spiritual and cultural heritage of the Serbian community in Hungary. He underlined that Szentendre is not only a city of memories, but also a living witness to the centuries-long Serbian–Hungarian coexistence and a symbol of the lasting bonds of friendship between the two nations. The ceremony was preceded by a bilateral meeting between the Hungarian and Serbian Ministries of Culture, held in the building of the Serbian Ecclesiastical Museum.
The festive event was attended by Borivoje Blagojević, Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina; Her Excellency Aleksandra Đurović, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Hungary; Dr. Jovánka Lásztity, President of the National Self-Government of Serbs in Hungary; Lyubomir Alexov, Spokesperson for the Serbian nationality in the Hungarian National Assembly; representatives of Serbian institutions in Hungary; numerous figures from the cultural and public life of the Serbian community in Hungary as well as members of the press.
In the artistic segment of the program, solo singers Branka Bašić and Afrodité Elizavet Radisz performed, while in the museum’s courtyard, the audience was entertained by a high-quality folk dance performance by the Hungarian National Dance Ensemble.
