
Liget Budapest
On 1 September 2023, the 4th Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism 2023 opened in several prominent locations in the South Korean capital. This is the first time that Hungary will be represented at the festival by Liget Budapest, one of Europe's largest cultural urban development projects, with the intervention of the Liszt Institute Seoul.
The event, which explores the issues of creating a liveable environment, yet an urban life, is the first time that a Hungarian project has been selected for the event, thanks to the support of the Liszt Institute Seoul. Running concurrently in several prominent locations in the South Korean capital, the event aims to showcase Seoul's vision for the future and to present international urban development practices that can serve the future of the metropolis, which offers a competitive environment and an outstanding quality of life.
The two-month-long biennale was opened by the Mayor of Seoul, Oh Se-hoon and continued with a two-day conference at Seoul City Hall. Projects such as the development of the historic district of Berlin and the construction of the Olympic Village for the Paris Olympics were presented. Tamás Végvári, Deputy Chief Content Officer of Liget Budapest, presented the developments in Budapest's Városliget as Europe's largest complex cultural urban development project to the Seoul audience.
