From 9 to 15 November 2025, the 18th edition of the La Nao International Festival takes place in Mexico, with Hungary featured as a guest of honour for the first time in the event’s history, alongside Colombia, Chile, and Togo.
The festival, organised across six venues in Acapulco, features more than 50 cultural events, including programmes with a Hungarian connection – organized with the support of the Embassy of Hungary in Mexico City.
On 9 November, two exhibitions opened at the Acapulco Historical Museum, located in the San Diego Fortress, showcasing works by Pál Kepenyes, the Kossuth Prize-winning Hungarian-Mexican sculptor and goldsmith, who passed away in Acapulco in 2021. Visitors can view a traditional exhibition titled Accumulated Sequences, as well as an immersive installation called The Living.
On the evening of 10 November, a joint concert featuring Hungarian pianist Emőke Ujj and violinist Dezső Salasovics, both of whom reside in Mexico, was held in Parque de La Reina, one of the city’s prominent public parks. During the performance, which included works by Béla Bartók, Jenő Hubay, János Bihari, and Rezső Kókai, images of Hungarian landscapes were projected on stage.
