Hungarian Gastro-Cultural Week in Ho Chi Minh City

Hungarian flavours, folk music, folk dance and the tárogató – a classical Hungarian musical instrument – were all given ample space at the Hungarian Gastro-Cultural Week, organised by the Consulate General of Hungary in Ho Chi Minh City between 17 and 23 March 2026, in cooperation with several of the city’s hotels and restaurants.

At the dinners, two master chefs and two master confectioners presented authentic Hungarian dishes, offering insight into Hungarian culinary traditions, preparation techniques and characteristic seasoning. To accompany the dishes, the Consulate General selected Hungarian sparkling wines and wines from products now available on the Vietnamese market.

The cultural programme was enriched by performances from two dance couples of the Tápiómente Folk Dance Ensemble from Nagykáta, awarded the title “Perpetually Excellent Ensemble”, accompanied by the music of József Terék and his fellow musicians. The event series gained further visibility through social media posts by influencer models dressed in traditional Vietnamese attire. Photographs were taken of the Hungarian dancers in Hungarian folk costume together with Vietnamese models, symbolising the bridge between the two cultures.

The programme was organised by the Consulate General of Hungary in Ho Chi Minh City with the support of the National Cultural Fund of Hungary and additional sponsors.
