The Hungarian State Opera and the Hungarian National Ballet were once again invited to perform on a prestigious international stage: their production marked the opening of the Dubai Opera’s 2025/2026 season.
The season-opening series began with three performances of Puccini’s classic La Bohème, held between September 18 and 20. Under the baton of conductor István Dénes, the Chorus and soloists of the Hungarian State Opera took the stage. Following the first performance, Paolo Petrocelli, Director of Dubai Opera, and Károly Benes, Ambassador of Hungary, welcomed the Hungarian artists at a reception.
The greatest public interest was drawn by Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, which was performed six time, twice as many as in 2023. Conducted by Tamás Herzog, the classical ballet was brought to life by the dancers of the Hungarian National Ballet, students of the Hungarian National Ballet Institute, and the Orchestra of the Opera House.
In addition to these two featured productions, on September 21 the Orchestra of the Hungarian State Opera performed Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 and Piano Concerto No. 5, enriching the program for audiences seeking a classical concert experience. This season’s performances expanded upon the success achieved in the United Arab Emirates two years ago.
