New York Photo Couture
In the heart of SoHo, also known as New York's art district, the Hungarian photography exhibition Photo Couture, featuring the work of eight young Hungarian photographers, will be on display until 13 September 2023, in connection with the theme of fashion. Co-organised by the Liszt Institute New York and Edge Communications, the exhibition will soon be shown in Hungary.
The exhibition will coincide with New York Fashion Week, a major global event in the fashion industry, said one of the organisers, the director of the Liszt Institute New York. Csenge Palotai stressed that many of the artists featured in the exhibition have already achieved international success and expressed the hope that their unique vision will be recognised and loved by the New York public.
Attila Ledényi, founding director of Art Market Budapest and Art Photo Budapest, emphasised that Hungary has a special relationship with photography thanks to the legacy of André Kertész, Robert Capa, László Moholy-Nagy, Brassai and other influential artists. This is also reflected in the creative vision of the emerging generations of artists, of which the Photo Couture exhibition is an excellent example.
The works of the exhibiting artists - Dávid Ajkai, Alianna Albert, Bálint Barna, Vivienne Bolla, Panna Donka, István Lábady, Wanda Martin and Marietta Varga - are on the borderline between fashion photography and fine art photography. The Photo Couture exhibition will be shown in several venues after its first debut in New York. The exhibition will be on view in Hungary from 19-22 October 2023 at Art Photo Budapest, the only international photography fair in Central and Eastern Europe, as a side event of Art Market Budapest.
