On 3 June 2022, the first full-size statue of Károly Kós in Transylvania was unveiled in the courtyard of the Church with the Rooster in Cluj Napoca (Romania).

The so-called Church with the Rooster (in Hungarian: Kakasos templom) of the Congregation of Cluj-Napoca – Upper Town designed by Károly Kós in 1913 is one of the architectural treasures of the ‘capital’ of Transylvania. It is named after a weathercock topping the tower on the southern side of the church. The new statue is the work of the Kossuth and Munkácsy Prize winner sculptor Ádám Farkas. It depicts the Transylvanian polyhistor in a sitting position in an armchair carved by himself, holding in one hand some scrolls with the layout of the church, with the other hand showing up to the tower.

The inauguration was preceded by a service in the church. Béla Kató, Bishop of the Reformed Church of Transylvania, Zsolt Kerékgyártó, Pastor of the Cluj-Napoca – Upper Town Congregation and Lajos Mile, Consul General of Hungary in Cluj-Napoca unveiled the statue, with the descendants of Károly Kós present.

The statue was erected from the donation of several private persons and institutions and the resources dedicated to the preservation of Hungarian memorial sites abroad by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
