Kós Károly
Between 4 and 7 October 2023, Hungarian Days were held in two rural towns in France, Toulouse and Lavaur. The events were rganised by the Liszt Institute in Paris. The programmes included concerts, a gala dinner and an exhibition opening, which offered for visitors three independent forms of relaxation.
The public discussion with dinner took place on 4 October at the Palladia Hotel in Toulouse. The event was attended by prominent public figures, politicians, directors and teachers. During the evening, the participants had the opportunity to taste the wines of the Tokaj and Szekszárd regions.
On the following day, the exhibition "Károly Kós - the most Hungarian architect of the 20th century" was opened at the Museum of Pays de Cocagne in Lavaur. The exhibition is divided into thematic sections and presents the work of Károly Kós in an interactive way. The first section shows the artist's early period up to the First World War. The second period will focus on the architect's years in Istanbul and his experiences there, while the final third of the exhibition will provide an insight into the relationship between the Hungarians of Transylvania and Károly Kós. After the opening, at 8 p.m., pianist Norbert Káel and mezzo-soprano singer Klára Csordás performed works by Ferenc Liszt, Zoltán Kodály and Béla Bartók. The Biennale will be on display at the Museum of Pays de Cocagne until 28 October 2023.
The musical programme continued on 7 October, with the closing concert by Izabella Horváth and Aladár Rácz on piano for four hands. The two artists performed works by Mozart, Schubert, Dvorak, Brahms and Ligeti. The performance took place in the Auditorium du Conservatoire de Blagnac.
The organisation and implementation of the programme was made possible thanks to the support of several partners and the general organisation of the Liszt Institute Paris.
