On November 25, 2023, the Hungarian company One Thousand Faces Collective mesmerized the audience in the Serbian capital with their contemporary aerial dance performance titled "Ezerarcú szépasszony 2.0 (Terra)” (One Thousand Faces Beauty 2.0 (Terra)). The event, organized by the Collegium Hungaricum Belgrade, showcased a captivating fusion of circus and dance elements. Following the performance, a meeting with the creators provided an opportunity for further engagement with the audience. The program received widespread acclaim and garnered coverage from several Serbian media outlets.
The production, featuring four talented artists - Georgina Cassels, Zetelaki Réka, Marta Matovelle, and Podmaniczky Dorottya - unveiled four distinct narratives exploring femininity, origins, and the ever-evolving nature of existence. Throughout the nearly one-hour performance, the artists embarked on a journey of birth, transformation, interconnection, and internal struggles, all while confronting the challenges of their universal and personal identities. The seamless integration of aerial acrobatics, contemporary dance, and physical theater contributed to the unique character of the piece. Szász Antal skillfully handled the stage lighting, while Louis Hautier captured the essence of the performance through his photography.
The BITEF Theatre, an avant-garde institution housed within a renovated Lutheran church, served as the host venue for the performance. Known for its focus on movement and contemporary dance, the theater showcases artists and companies whose work deviates from the traditional norms.
During the post-event audience meeting, the creators engaged in a dialogue with the spectators, sharing their emotions and impressions of the piece, further enriching the overall experience.
