The Liszt Institute Brussels in collaboration with the Cultural and Scientific Service of the Embassy of Spain in Belgium puts on stage a special collaboration between some of the greatest jazz musicians of Hungary, Spain and Belgium to celebrate the Spanish – Belgian – Hungarian EU Presidency trio.

Veronika Harcsa & Bálint Gyémánt Quartet (HUN/BE)

One voice … add a guitar and you have a duo. Bring in a rhythm section and you have a band. This process takes time. The aptly titled "About Time" is the latest album by Hungarian vocalist Veronika Harcsa and her long-term partner, guitarist Bálint Gyémánt, joined by the Belgian „enfants terribles", bassist Nicolas Thys and Antoine Pierre on drums.

All four musicians know exactly how far they can go individually and collectively. They allow their ideas freedom of flow while always keeping a firm grip on the reins. In concert, many of the band's decisions stem from spontaneous improvisation. It can happen, for example, that Gyémánt plays a solo and Harcsa adds lyrics afterwards – the result may sound like a composed song, while it has, in fact, grown out of an improvisation.

Ernesto Aurignac and Moisés P. Sánchez (ES)

Two of the most important figures in the jazz scene of Spain, they unite their passion for jazz music, composition, avant-garde arrangements and improvisation, in an intimate yet uncontrollable encounter. A face to face of purity, sonority and suggestiveness in which the unique styles and personalities of both dialogue and enhance each other.

Ernesto Aurignac is considered one of the best saxophone players on the jazz scene in Europe. He has an exquisite talent and mastery of the saxophone and the language of the jazz tradition, adhering to the essence of Charlie Parker. All this is combined with a surprising avant-garde maturity and a very singular sound.

Moisés P. Sánchez is recognized as one of the top talents of the Spanish and European music scene. With a language of his own and a rich combination of the most diverse influences, his creations go far beyond the usual boundaries between genres and are surprising for the wealth of resources employed just as much as for their fascinating vitality and originality.
