The Müpa experience knows no boundaries. While nothing can replace the magic of a live concert, they want audiences to meet the finest domestic and international artists and the most exciting creators in the music world, wherever they are, through the Müpa Home broadcasts.
A special edition of the 19th Jazz Showcase is coming this year. Central Europe’s most significant jazz talent fair opens its doors wider within the framework of the Hungarian–Serbian Cultural Year. The Jazz Showcase will otherwise proceed as usual: six young ensembles selected by the pre-jury will perform at free concerts every day from 4:30 PM in the Festival Theatre.
After the concerts, host László Jazzkovács will introduce the young bands in both Hungarian and English. Surely, everyone would be delighted if in a few years these musicians could follow in the footsteps of those invited to the evening Jazz Showcase program; this year, for example, Serbian-born Vladimir Kostadinović and his quartet are members of the Jazz Showcase Big Band on Friday and Saturday, while on Sunday it is Okvsho’s turn.
The international jury will vote on-site, while the audience can vote online for their favorites, who - thanks to Müpa and its partner organizations - may receive numerous awards in the form of further performance opportunities.
From January 30 to February 1, you can follow the afternoon concerts of the Jazz Talent Fair live on Müpa’s platforms. In addition, the conversations led by László Jazzkovács before the fifty-minute concerts will help you get to know the young talents better, and after listening to the performances, you can vote for the band you consider the best.
After the showcases featuring jazz talents, you can also watch the evening concerts live.
On the Müpa website, you can enjoy the broadcasts in the best possible quality, and viewers who are logged in with a Müpa registration or loyalty program membership can chat live with each other during the broadcasts.
