Treurenberg 10, 1000 Brussels
Join us in celebrating the 20th anniversary of our institute with a concert that spans centuries and cultures, showcasing the most beautiful sounds of Hungarian musical tradition. During the evening, you will meet extraordinary artists: Márta Sebestyén, a Kossuth and UNESCO award-winning performer, a full member of the Hungarian Academy of Arts, who has made the authentic expression of Hungarian folk traditions known worldwide; and Judit Andrejszki, a Liszt Prize-winning performer dedicated to the traditions of old Hungarian music, rediscovering melodies from centuries past.
Their program brings history to life, as the sources of songs and music include both written documents and treasures preserved through oral tradition. The musical material not only evokes Hungary's past but also offers a European perspective, demonstrating how melodies from different cultures intertwine and how the music of historical eras has influenced each other.
The special atmosphere of the evening will be created by the members of the Bokros ensemble, founded by Béla Szerényi, member of the Hungarian Academy of Arts, Martin György and Zsuzsanna Erdélyi award-winning performer, and master instrument maker. The ensemble brings the ancient musical world to life using both modern and traditional instruments. The concert will also be enriched by the performance of Béla Szerényi Jr., a Junior Prima award winner, who opens new dimensions in the interpretation of traditional melodies with his virtuosity and unique style.
Discover the timeless beauty of Hungarian music, where every note tells a story, every melody is a link between the past and the present, and where music unites souls, bridging the boundaries of time and space!
