Hungarian animation returns to the spotlight at the 2026 Anima Festival in Brussels, showcasing a new generation of bold and imaginative voices. As a proud partner of the festival once again, we are delighted to support Hungarian filmmakers as they present their work to an international audience.

This year’s selection features three distinctive animated shorts - Wish You Were Ear by Mirjana Balogh, Dog Ear by Péter Vácz, and My Good Boy by Sara Priorelli - screened across categories that highlight emerging talent, emotional storytelling, and artistic innovation. From intimate explorations of relationships and memory to imaginative reflections on childhood and care, these films reflect the diversity, sensitivity, and creative strength of contemporary Hungarian animation.

Wish You Were Ear

In a world where ex-partners have to swap a chosen body part after a break-up, every relationship that ends leaves a visible mark: individuals not only lose a piece of themselves; they also carry a literal fragment of their past love along with them. The protagonist in this story feels incomplete and disfigured, and yearns for their original, complete form. When they encounter someone else wearing their former ear, they are set on a path to self-acceptance. A reflection on how relationships change us, shape our identity and our self-image – whether we want them to or not.

A young boy wrestles with his emotions after witnessing his parents fighting. He confides in his dog but also unleashes his frustrations on him. In the end, it is in his uncontrollable imagination that he finds the comfort he seeks.

My Good Boy
