More than two thousand people viewed the online premiere of The Grape, the theatre poetry monodrama by actor Miklós Turek.
The play introduced the Hungarian poet Sándor Petőfi, the son, actor, soldier, and husband in 60 minutes, using the poet's own words. The monodrama aimed to prove that his poetry is not outdated, his thoughts and ideas are still very much relevant in the 21st century. With his monodrama Miklós Turek's hopes to break the barriers between poems and people, and point out that literature and history can be closer to us than we might first think.
The Hungarian play was shown online for the first time ever and was well received not only in the UK, but in other countries as well. The piece served as a useful material for Hungarian weekend schools, who wish to send quality materials to their students during the pandemic.
We hope we’ll be able to welcome another play of the Poetry Theatre live soon.
