CD release of the Bajkó Band and Demeter Panni
- 3 February 2020, 7 PM - Balassi Institute Brussels
“Párosan” (‘Couples’) is a survey of Central Transylvania’s rich and archaic string band tradition. Aiming at elaboration and balance, it features two tracks from each region: from Mezőség / Câmpia Transilvaniei, from along River Kis-Küküllő / Târnava Mică, and the valley of River Kis-Szamos / Someşul Mic. The lead track contains music from Kalotaszeg / Ţara Călatei, with a pinch of modern urban influence. The set of seven tracks highlights regional and ethnic differences as nuances of a shared Transylvanian musical idiom. - Dániel Lipták
The Bajkó Band was created in the spring of 2013 in Budapest, Hungary with the participation of four enthusiastic young musicians representing different regions of the Carpathian Basin. Their common language is the Hungarian folk music, the cohesion comes from friendship and their common aspire for progress.
