An exhibition by the Czech Art Nouveau painter and decorative artist Alphonse Mucha at the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest will include more than 100 works, the museum's director said on Thursday.
The exhibition, entitled In Praise of Women: Alphonse Mucha  - Czech Master of Art Nouveau, will be held between March 20 and June 7.

The show will include some of the most important drawings, paintings, posters and photographs by the Czech master, said Laszlo Baan. It is part of a series presenting outstanding artists of the late 19th century "golden age", including Ferdinand Hodler and Gustave Moreau, he added.

The exhibition focuses on Mucha's Parisian period from 1895 to 1902 but also includes works made in America and Bohemia, Baan said.  Mucha is most often remembered for the prominent role he played in shaping the aesthetics of French Art Nouveau at the turn of the century.

The Mucha exhibition is the opening event of the Budapest Spring Festival.
