The Gödöllő Palace near Budapest will unveil its restoration, which doubles the area open to visitors, in September.

The palace’s Rudolf wing and Gizella wings have been refurbished, and the park has been landscaped in the romantic style, said Mihály T. Révész, who heads the company that manages the palace. Inside the palace, surfaces have been restored and doors and windows replaced to reflect the original style of the building, he added.

The restoration has proceeded on schedule and costs were in line with the plan, Révész said.

As part of the project, the palace has been fitted with a screening room, a museology workshop area and music rooms.

President of the National Office of Cultural Heritage Tamás Mezős said the renovated palace would become a centre for cultural events that meets the highest European standards.

 György Gémesi
The palace renovation was undertaken at a cost of HUF 1.6 billion, said Gödöllő Mayor György Gémesi.
