Pecs2010 - City of Pecs guest of honour at Anna Ball

Hungary's southwestern city of Pecs, a European capital of culture this year, will be the guest of honour at the annual Anna Ball in Balatonfured at tourist hot spot Lake Balaton on July 24.

The spectacular ball, one of Hungary's best known dance events since the 19th century, will be organised for the 185th time.

The renowned Pecs Ballet group will give a gala performance before midnight when the ball's beauty queen is elected in a vote by viewers worldwide of the event's broadcaster Duna TV.

This year's winner will take with the Golden Apple award a richly decorated vase offered by the Herend porcelain factory.

On the next day the winner will be taken around Balatonfured in a horse carriage.
